This is a Thank You note addressed to Event Coordinator, John Meyers, from The Hawaii Food Bank for our $1360 contribution during the 2015 Food Bank Drive in April.  Mahalo to all who had contributed!

CONGRATULATIONS!  PCAH took second place in the Public Service Award category at the Porsche Parade in Indiana!  Our contributions to various charities throughout the year has not gone unnoticed.  Our guy John Meyers was there to receive the award

The Tripler Fisher House is a “home away from home” for families and patients receiving medical care at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI.  Families served are from the Pacific area, mainly Korea, Japan, Okinawa, and Guam.  Active duty and retired persons from all services are helped in their time of need.  The Fisher House is nestled on a hillside north of the hospital about a half a mile.

During our recent Memorial Day Cruise on the 31st of May, we honored the military and our own "Bones" Marshall who recently received the Congressional Gold Medal for his heroic accomplishments as an American Fighter Ace during the Korean War.  In addition, cruise participants donated a generous $850 towards the good service that the Fisher House continues to provide.  Pictured below is cruise coordinator, Rod Laszlo, presenting the check to the Fisher House.  Mahalo to all the participants; it's not just cars, it's the people.

5/31/15 Memorial Day Cruise and Tribute to Bones Marshall

It wasn't the most ideal weather conditions for our cruises, however, 22 Porsches and 31 members including several prospective members, braved the Punchbowl and Manoa rains to make the trek up less-travelled Tantalus and Round Top Drives then west-bound on H1 towards Hickam Air Force Base for a tribute to long-time PCA member, Retired LT Gen. Bones Marshall in front of one of the five fighter jets that he flew during the Korean War.  And standing next to his plane, Bones provided quite a history of his experiences flying these fighters to the group of interested PCAH cruisers.  Event coordinator Rod Laszlo also supplied additional historical facts about Bones and his accomplishments while serving in the U.S. Air Force.  Event co-chair Ellen Schultz presented Bones with a lei, after which the group retired to the Wright Brothers Café on base for lunch.

Mahalo to Rod Laszlo and Ellen Schultz for orchestrating a great event which also included collection of charitable donations for the Fisher House and a post-event history quiz that netted some neat prizes for the members with the most correct answers.

Last but not least, Mahalo to all our members and prospective members for your participation in today's event.  This is what continues to make the club a viable organization that prides itself on its people and the camaraderie they share.  Below are a few photos from today's event.

On May 20, 2015, PCA Hawaii Region’s oldest active member, retired Air Force General Winton “Bones” Marshall, received the Congressional Gold Medal in a ceremony in Washington D.C. honoring American Fighter Aces from previous world wars and conflicts.  Speaker of the House John Boehner and Hawaii Congresswomen Tulsi Gabbard were among the dignitaries present.  Also pictured with Bones, is his wife Millie who received the same medal several years ago for her record as a WAF, Womens Air Force, pilot during World War II
